The strength of Indigo Mountain Nature Center's management team stems from the combined expertise in business management, technical and animal related areas. Our team consists of individuals whose combined backgrounds consist of years of business management, marketing, fundraising, animal studies, enclosure design and construction, animal handling and training, and veterinary care.

Sue has extensive experience handling animals from tiny tree frogs, sugar gliders, hedgehogs, mink, raccoons, fox, coyotes, river otter, bobcats and lynx to big cats, bears, wolves and wolfdogs. She gained a large amount of experience and knowledge in animal care, cage construction, behavior and training by volunteering in the sanctuary and rescue field for years before co-founding Indigo Mountain Nature Center in 2000. Her experience and background in the business world helped to prepare Sue for the many business management and marketing tasks required of her job as Executive Director.
She holds certifications in Veterinary nutrition, chemical immobilization and animal behavior. This training has enhanced her abilities to provide excellent care to the Indigo Mountain animals.
As the President of the Board of Directors and the Executive Director, Sue is responsible for the general business management of the center in addition to the day to day care of a number of canines, cats, black bears and pocket pets. She also develops Indigo Mountain's wildlife educational programs.
Carol Scarborough is one of the co-founders and is the Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Directors. She volunteered for a sanctuary in Colorado for a number of years prior to co-founding Indigo Mountain in 2000. Her experience and knowledge in handling cats, large and small, wolves, wolfdogs, and pocket pets has been instrumental in the daily care of the animals at Indigo Mountain.
Carol brings her broad background in the business world ranging from accounting, marketing and general business management to her position as the Secretary/Treasurer of Indigo Mountain's Board of Directors. Her hard work and dedication has helped to make IMNC the first class facility that it is today.
